What's Tenby famous for?

Well, it’s Castle Beach has picked up the Sunday Times Beach of the Year and earns itself Blue Flag beach status too.  Its coastal walks are second to none, with the pathway to the Pembrokeshire Coast on your doorstep. The harbour is beautiful too - awash with colour as you gaze across at the houses and cottages overlooking it.

Perhaps you like ancient architecture? St Mary’s church is one of the nicest attractions in Tenby. It’s a stunning building that dates back to the 15th century, and houses memorials to the areas mayors that are over 500 years old. And Manorbier Castle is a stunning Norman building, perched up on the cliff. Here you can enjoy the great hall, landscaped gardens and its impressive turrets.

If you dare, there’s the ghost walk. Spooky tales are a thing in Tenby, where ghostly pirates are said to have haunted these shores, and UFO’s have even been sighted close by.

You’re also close enough to St. David’s, the smallest city in Britain. Here, alongside its 1,600 residents, there are pubs, galleries, foraged food and a 12th century cathedral to visit. Or if you fancy a bit of shopping, you can take a trip to nearby Carmarthen market. You’ll be sure to enjoy it here and might be tempted to spend all your money! Its friendly atmosphere means you make instant friends with the traders, who specialise in everything from food, arts and crafts, antiques, jewellery, fabrics and more.

A visit to Laugharne should always be on the checklist too. Welsh poet Dylan Thomas’ wrote many of his words here. Oh, and we’d be daft to forget about the beautiful and idyllic Saundersfoot – with its wide sandy beach, that also achieves Blue Flag beach status.
