The Grand National by Coach
Join us as we visit The Grand National, one of the
biggest and most exciting sporting events in the UK.
Held each year at the iconic Aintree Racecourse in
Liverpool, this popular event is a national institution which attracts
spectators from all over the world.
So, what makes The Grand National so special? In the
1800s, this race was known as The Grand Liverpool Steeplechase and featured
horses jumping over a stone wall, crossing a stretch of ploughed land and
finishing over two hurdles. For the first four years, it was a simple weight-for-age
race but in 1843 Edward William Topham turned the Grand National into what we
know as a handicap race.
This handicap system makes The Grand National so
exciting and unpredictable, with underdogs and long shots, often surprising
even the most seasoned of racegoers.
Enjoy a Grand National short break and be part of the
crowd as the tape goes up, the excitement begins, and the adrenaline starts
pumping. After 16 fences, two miles and one furlong, you’ll know if you’re a
winner.
Our short breaks include coach travel with reserved
seating, hotel accommodation with dinner, bed and breakfast, and tickets for
The Grand National.
Soak up the wonderful atmosphere of this exciting event
and create unforgettable memories.
