The Whitby Regatta by coach
Experience the wonderful Whitby Regatta, one of the
oldest sea regattas in the country, dating back over 175 years.
This annual event first took place in 1832 and has
grown into one of the region’s biggest carnival events with an unbelievable
atmosphere. It now typically happens over several days during the summer
months and is a fantastic celebration of maritime culture, with a range of
events, activities, and competitions, along with other entertainment within the
town.
Watch the traditional yacht racing, one of the main
attractions of the Whitby Regatta, which sees a variety of sailboats competing
against one another. You can also enjoy other water-based activities
during the Regatta, including swimming competitions, rowing races, and fishing
competitions.
On land, there are many other attractions for your
enjoyment, including street entertainers, fairground rides, vintage car rallies
and motorbike displays. There is also a fancy dress and walking float carnival
which you’ll see parading through the town.
Each year, the Regatta ends in a traditional fashion,
with a prize presentation and impressive fireworks display, lighting up the sky
above the harbour.
Join us for family fun at the Whitby Regatta with its
lively carnival atmosphere.
Our breaks include coach travel with reserved seating
throughout, hotel accommodation and a programme of excursions.
